Handmade Organic Body Care

Two years ago I had a media pass to the Richmond Jazz Festival, and when I wasn’t on the scene shooting photos, I had the opportunity to walk around and check out the vendors. By then, I was fully immersed in the world of all natural products, because I realized how well my eczema-ridden skin responded to them. As I browsed the vendors, I came across Fran Ngong’s Bodycare, and I have not stopped using their products since.

Based in Maryland, they now produce soaps, deodorants, and body creams, all of which I have purchased over the last two years. One of the things I also love about receiving an order from this company is that they always send samples of their other products; this way, you have an opportunity to check out different scents and products you may want to purchase in the future.

First of all the scents are to die for. I’ve tried quite a few of them, but my go-tos are Pink Grapefruit, Clementine & Tumeric, and Lemongrass & Chamomile. The website lists what each of them is best used for in terms of skin type, moisturization, and reasons for use like relaxation. With these, you aren’t just smelling good, you’re targeting and treating different elements of your skin, and giving yourself a little self-care in the process. Each bar of soap is around $10, which is pricey compared to what you might buy from your regular store; however, it’s long-lasting and can be more beneficial to your skin in the long run.

Body Whipp Cream

Personally, I don’t like very heavy products on any part of my body. For years now, I have only been using coconut oil as a moisturizer, and it works just fine. It is nice to have an alternative though, so I recently bought the Body Whipp Cream in Lemongrass & Coconut. It’s made with a base of creamy goat milk, raw honey, coconut oil and shea butter, all of which are amazing for the skin individually so imagine the impact of those combined ingredients. It’s a moisturizer that quickly dissolves and does not sit on the skin, so your skin will look nourished, but not greasy.

Deodorant was the last item in my everyday routine that I was able to find a natural product for. I was a little discouraged at first, because I would wear it, and by midday, I would be musky and sweaty under my arms. Not only that, but some natural deodorants burned my underarms from the harshness of the baking soda. I am the type of person that cannot go without deodorant, so as I transitioned to all-natural, I alternated between the Secret that I initially used and the all-natural deodorant until I could use it everyday. I have read that is common for your body to need a transitional period when starting to use all-natural deodorant, so I would definitely caution that you be patient. Fran’s formula is a cream to powder, and again, the scent (Island Coconut, for me) is lovely. With this product, I feel like my skin and body care regimen is now rounded out.
