The Buzz: Burt's Bees Products (Favorites + New)
I’m always willing to try new products by a brand when I trust in the quality of what i’ve already used by them. Burt’s Bees was the brand that originally helped me make the transition to all natural products, and they have never disappointed. They do a wonderful job of selecting the best of nature for our skin like honey, willow bark, lemon, and cotton while staying away from the not so good ingredients like parabens and phthalates. It’s a good feeling to know that whether you need a product for your skin, hair, makeup, or oral care, you can find it all in one brand.
Coconut & Pear Lip Balm
I was not a chapstick person…until I bought this chapstick. In the fall of 2018, I noticed that my lips were incredibly drier than they usually were. I don’t wear makeup to work, so I just wanted two or three products I could use quickly in my morning routine. This lip balm is one of them; I keep one on my nightstand for mornings and nights, because that’s when it seems my lips are the driest. I also carry one in my bag in case I need to use it again throughout the day. The tropical scent is to die for, and the coconut oil, which is all anyone needs in this life of sin, is extremely hydrating. I like that it’s not thick or greasy, but it glides on smoothly and it’s long-lasting.
Almond & Milk Hand Cream
I’m very particular about my hand moisturizers because I have eczema, and in the last couple years, the patches have been showing up on my hands and wrists. I prefer to have a cream that’s thick, and Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream is the perfect model. It’s not one of those lotions or moisturizers that you have to constantly reapply. Even if you wash your hands, they won’t feel completely drained of all moisture when you use this hand cream. The Sweet Almond Oil ingredient has vitamin A, vitamin E and proteins that provide antioxidants, anti-aging qualities, and protection from UV radiation damage. Hands are one of the first body parts to show age, so it’s important to use something specific to keeping them soft and without fine lines.
Facial Cleansing Towelettes With White Tea Extract
I cannot be the only one who has had makeup remover wipes to burn my eyes or smell not so good. These towelettes are also a product I’ve been using for years, because when it comes to beauty and makeup products, I can be a creature of habit. Once I found them, I felt why change something that’s so good? The White Tea Extract is important, because it’s meant to lessen environmental damage to the skin, barring you actually use the wipes and don’t sleep with your makeup on (ahem!). I also like that even if you’re not wearing makeup, they’re still good for removing dirt, and the cucumber and aloe ingredients make these wipes a really good skin refresher.
Purely White Zen Peppermint Toothpaste Fluoride-Free
Toothpaste is one of those products I never thought of being natural, but if it exists, and it’s plant-based, it’s not a bad idea to make the transition from other not-so-environmentally-considerate brands. It’s made without fluoride, sulfate, parabens, sweeteners, preservatives and dyes, and the tubes and cartons are 100% recyclable, which is important to consider as well. Even without all of those things, it has a pleasant natural scent from the peppermint, and with hydrated silica, it naturally whitens teeth by removing stains. What a win.
Hydrating Overnight Mask
Masks are something I almost never do, because they have a history of drying my skin out, and no one needs that kind of negativity in their life. For those of us that sometimes get a tad lazy and leave masks on for too long when we do wear them, this is one you get to keep on. You apply a layer on the surface of your skin, and then after ten minutes, you get to just rub it in. You could put it on, get in the bed, and not have to get back up to take it off; how easy is that?
It smells like kool-aid in the most tolerable way possible, and it feels great going onto the skin. With avocado, one of the best ingredients your skin could ask for, and prebiotics, this mask works overtime at night to hydrate your skin while you’re sleeping and can’t hydrate for yourself. I kept feeling my face for the following hours waiting for it to be dry, but it never was. Waking up to skin that’s healthy and hydrated is much better than waking up to dry patches and too-tight skin from lack of moisture. For such a small tube, this mask does a big job, and that’s what we all want from every product in our beauty cabinet.
