The Buzz: Burt's Bees Products II
I love Burt’s Bees for the quality of their products and the variety of their collection. As I walked through Target the other day, I saw Burt’s Bees baby clothes; how cute! From there, I went to Petsmart and saw dog products by, guess who? Burt’s Bees. It’s very evident that they think about how consumers can streamline their everyday lives, and I personally appreciate that vision. I usually go browse their section to make sure that I haven’t missed anything, and to my surprise, I found that I had not tried their masks. Due to cystic acne caused by stress, I also reintroduced the spot treatment into my collection. I love that each of these products is under $10, so an at-home spa day can be high quality but at an affordable price.
Rejuvenating Eye Masks $2.99
My vitamin D level dropped recently and it seems that it has made my skin and eyes dry. This was the perfect time to try an eye mask, which I had never done before, but I don’t want to look tired even if I am. It’s a simple matter of removing the masks from the packet and smoothing them under your eyes. After five minutes you’re good to remove them and rub the rest of the product in. Those are my favorite kind of masks.
I am steadily getting into sheet masks, because I’ve read that the pros far outweigh the cons. They are an Asian beauty secret that has now been shared with all of us and for good reason. The ingredients are more concentrated as they are combined into a serum which the mask is then soaked in. That means we get the full benefit of each ingredient. Because these masks cling to the skin and create a sealant over the length of time you wear them, the moisture does not escape. All you do is take it out of the package, smooth it over the contours of your face, wait 10 minutes, remove it and then rub the excess product in. When you remove the mask it’s as it you’ve just had a professional grade facial but right in your home.
This one by Burt’s Bees happens to be all natural, the key ingredient being mandarin extract which is a good source of vitamin C and E and fibers that that flush toxins. Mandarin extract also has anti-aging properties and promotes cell and tissue growth. After using it, my face felt so smooth and plump. Imagine using something like this once a week and the wonders it could do for the health and youth of your skin.
I mentioned that on the rare occasion I get acne, it’s cystic. Those bumps can be incredibly difficult to remove on your own. In fact, as a teenager I used three prescription medications at one point to keep them at bay. This summer, I was pretty stressed and it showed on my face. I was desperately trying to find solutions, and when someone suggested this to me, I remembered that it had once been a part of my routine years ago. Willow bark is the active ingredient that has natural acids to unclog pores. During my big breakout, I used ice to reduce inflammation and then applied this using a cotton pad at night. The next morning, I noticed that the bumps weren’t nearly as large, red or irritated. Now it’s something I know I have to keep around for my acne emergencies.
