Powered By Herbs: The Honey Pot Co. Menstrual Pads
Feminine issues can be pretty uncomfortable to talk about, but in reality, they shouldn’t be. We all have them. Having had some pretty serious issues for the last five or six years (i.e. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Endometrial Cancer), i’ve had to become okay with talking about the condition of my lady parts. Believe it or not, complications down there can cause many physical issues in other areas of the body. Trust me, I know. Because i’ve experienced so much, I think it’s incredibly important to talk about how to care for our lady parts, because let’s face it- we’re stuck with them for the rest of life.
If you have been following me for a while, you might know that if there is a plant-based product for any area of everyday life whether it’s skin care, household cleaning, hair care, or laundry, I have found it or I am relentlessly looking for it. When I came across The Honey Pot Company, I thought it was too good to be true. Menstrual pads…that are herb-infused? How marvelous! If no one else can, I relate to founder Bea Feliu-Espada who, for a long while, had an unhappy “honey pot.” I fully believe in the capacity of nature to cure and heal; with a vision powered by herbs, The Honey Pot Company aims to give us unique products that you won’t find in any other brand.
Regular pads with wings are what I have always used. In full transparency, I don’t just need them during that time of month. For example, I’ve just been taken off of hormone therapy and transitioned to birth control. Since my body is having to adjust hormone levels yet again, i’m currently experiencing breakthrough bleeding. It’s similar to spotting; however, sometimes it’s a little heavier than a liner can hold and can last for months. That’s where The Honey Pot Company Herbal Pads With Wings come in. They are designed by people with vaginas. These people, women to be exact, know our pain and discomfort and they’ve thought about solutions that might at least give us the sense that everything will be okay for the next few days of whatever is going on down there.
What I like about these pads is that they are made from cotton so they feel nice, but even “cooler,” they are infused with essential oils (lavender, rose, aloe vera, and mint) that give a feel-good, tingle sensation that just makes me feel like something good is in the works down there, and there is. These ingredients are working to soothe and reduce inflammation. They are made with no synthetic materials or artificial ingredients, so we’re getting the maximum effect of nature on our vaginas without the long-term harm of chemical ingredients.
I always like to celebrate companies who consider a bigger picture, because it really does warm my heart to see brands that are not solely concerned about retail consumption. The Honey Pot Co. is environmentally conscious and they are mindful of less fortunate women who absolutely still need and deserve to care for their bodies. With the purchase of a #HappyPeriod Pin, feminine care products are donated to a charity that makes sure homeless and less fortunate women receive menstrual hygiene kits.
So far, I have only tried the menstrual pads; however, me and my vagina were so impressed that we’re anxious to try products like the Soothing Body Balm for when we just need a little relief all over our external body and the Moisturizing Water Based Lubricant when it’s time to get busy.
